Improved access to IT facilities

You told us

Feedback from the CSD survey and National Student Survey highlighted that some students felt that access to IT facilities was limited at times.

What we did

A loan laptop scheme was introduced at both the Sydney Jones and Harold Cohen libraries, which has helped to alleviate demand for PCs as well as improving space constraints as laptops can be used in breakout areas. An increased number of speed stations, where users can perform quick tasks such as checking emails and printing documents, has also helped to free up PCs for students needing to do more time intensive pieces of work.

The loan laptops are brilliant, especially when the library’s are really busy you can sit in the silent study room and get on with your work where its quiet and not too hot!!! saves lugging my laptop in!! Only downside is there so good there aren’t enough…..

Thanks for your comment Ally – we are shortly intending to double the number of loan laptops in each library to widen this provision. Really glad you find the laptop loan scheme useful.
