David Brewer is a third year Veterinary Science student, who is currently working part time for the Philanthropy and Alumni Relations team at the University to raise money for students through the Benefactors’ Fund.
The job involves calling graduates to engage them in University life and encourage them to give back to the University. The Benefactors’ Fund raises money for scholarships to enable access to education, supporting projects across campus such as the laptop loan service in the libraries and extra equipment for the Central Teaching Laboratories.

Raising funds for scholarships and projects across campus that help make the student experience at Liverpool unique.

Listening and enthusiasm
What’s the best thing about your job?
The team I work with and getting to speak to interesting people on the phone.
How do you balance your academic life with your work life?
It is a great job because I can work evenings alongside study and keep my weekends free.

Talking to someone very charming who flirted outrageously with me!

What’s your favourite thing about the city of Liverpool?
The friendliness of the people and how cheap things are relative to London where I’m from!

In an ideal world I would be a specialist primate vet at London Zoo.
