Top sports clubs and teams at the University were celebrated earlier this month at the annual Athletic Union (AU) Ball.

AU President Matt Ward said: “Congratulations to all the teams and individuals who have won this year’s awards. These celebrations have capped off a great year for sport at the University – not only have we attracted a record 3000 members to join our 48 clubs this year, we also won this year’s Sport Varsity with a final score of 60 points against Liverpool John Moores’ 48 points.

“We’re looking forward to being able to build on that success next year.”

The AU also used the event to present a cheque for £5,000 to their charity of the year, Joining Jack. The money has been raised by students over the last two years.
