The winner of the University of Liverpool’s Blogger of the Year has been named as Adeayo Sotayo.
Students from across the University have been blogging for a year on the My Liverpool Story website which was launched in October 2013 to give prospective students a behind-the-scenes look at university life in Liverpool using videos, photographs and blogs.
The three finalists in the competition were unveiled at the beginning of Welcome Week as third year English student Laura Pearson, fourth year medical student Yasmin Jolly and Mechanical Engineering graduate Adeayo Sotayo.
Voting was open all week on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram and after establishing an early lead, Adeayo came top of the finalists with a grand total of 608 votes, winning him the overall prize of an iPad Mini. Yasmin Jolly came in at a close second with 533 votes and Laura Pearson finished in third with 303 votes. Both runners-up received a certificate to recognise their efforts as well as a gift of flowers and chocolates.
Blogging on a variety of topics from budgeting and finance, to settling in, graduating, work experience, budgeting, essays, exams and exploring the city, all three finalists have already been named as one of the site’s ‘Blogger of the Month’ winning £50 each in Amazon vouchers.
