A Clothes Throw event is being held to raise money to support the construction of the University’s new research and education facility at Alder Hey Children’s Hospital.
The event, organised by the Philanthropy and Alumni Relations team, takes place on Thursday 23 October in the Gilmour Room, Liverpool Guild of Students.
Students and staff are being asked to donate any unwanted good quality women’s, men’s or children’s clothes by dropping them off at the Foundation Building any time in the run up to the event, or by bringing them to the Courtyard of the Guild of Students between 11am and 2pm on 21 October. Liverpool One has also donated clothing rails for the event.
Just under £15M has already been secured to support the second stage of the £25M development which is due to open in Summer 2015.
The University and Alder Hey have successfully worked together for nearly 50 years at our Institute of Child Health, which addresses research in areas such as sepsis, bronchiolitis and asthma.
The new facility will allow researchers to develop safer, better medicines for children to use in the NHS and throughout the world. It will also help give children in the North West greater access to emerging life-saving technologies and provide facilities that will attract outstanding researchers to Liverpool.
