Supporting World Diabetes Day

To mark World Diabetes Day this Friday, specialist nurses from Student Health Services will be in the Guild to provide support, information, and guidance about managing the condition.

The School of Engineering’s active learning lab will also be lit up blue to highlight the day’s events.

Diabetes is a common life-long health condition. There are 3.2 million people diagnosed in the UK and an estimated 630,000 people who have the condition, but don’t know it.

Diabetes occurs when the amount of glucose in your blood is too high because your pancreas doesn’t produce any insulin, or not enough insulin, to help glucose enter your body’s cells.

Know the signs

Diabetes UK has produced a video to raise awareness about the ‘Four Ts of Type 1 diabetes’, watch it on YouTube here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9suitCY2fsw&feature=player_embedded

The Student Health stall will be in the Guild of Students between 11.00am and 2.00pm on Friday 14 November.
