Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell to discuss her career in neuroscience

Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell, President and Vice-Chancellor of the University of Manchester, will deliver a lecture on her career in neuroscience.

Dame Nancy is a leading neuroscientist whose research focuses on inflammation in brain disease, especially stroke, and the development of novel treatments.

Professor Tom Solomon, Head of the University’s Institute of Infection and Global Health, said: “This lecture by Professor Dame Nancy Rothwell will be an opportunity to hear about some first-class neuroscience research; it also underscores the commitment of the University of Liverpool and the Walton Centre to support women in science and medicine.”

The event is this year’s Sutcliffe Kerr Lecture, an annual neuroscience event hosted by the Walton Centre and the University of Liverpool. The event commemorates Alan Sutcliffe Kerr, a leading neurosurgeon who played a major role in founding the Walton Centre as a separate, specialist NHS Trust for neuroscience.

The lecture will take place in the Walton Centre’s Clinical Sciences Centre on 10 December at 5.30pm. Admission is free but places must be booked in advance by emailing: judith.dennis@thewaltoncentre.nhs.uk.
