Postgraduate research students have their say

welcome week

The University is taking part in the Postgraduate Research Experience Survey (PRES) which will be used to evaluate postgraduate researcher students’ experience of their research programme at the University.

PRES is the only national survey to gather postgraduate research students’ opinions about their experience of their research programme. Run by the Higher Education Academy, this will be the third time that the University has taken part in this important national survey which is designed to help universities improve the quality of their postgraduate research provision, based on feedback from students. The results are also used nationally to help advise policy and improve the postgraduate research experience across the sector.

The PRES was launched on 2 March, and all eligible students should by now have received an email with a link to the survey. The survey closes on the 14 May. All responses will be made anonymous and the all respondents who complete the survey by the closing date will be entered into a prize draw to win £250 of Amazon vouchers.

The results of the survey will be made available to all departments in the summer.

For further information about the PRES survey, please contact Samantha Burke, Student Survey Officer on 0151 795 55089 or email

PRES is run in association with the Higher Education Academy, the national body for enhancing learning and teaching in higher education in the United Kingdom. 46,626 postgraduates from 115 institutions participated in PRES 2013.
