Students from Hong Kong and Mainland China are invited to apply for two £10,000 postgraduate scholarships, established by Liverpool graduates and brothers, Dr CH and Dr CC Tung.
The Tung Doctoral Scholarship and the Yu Postgraduate Scholarship are awarded annually to students who can prove academic excellence and have been admitted to pursue full time postgraduate studies at the University of Liverpool.
Teng Li is a third year PhD student and the current Tung scholarship recipient. He is studying Medieval Church history and Historical Theology in the High Middle Ages in the Department of History.
Teng said: “I am so grateful to the Tung Foundation for the Tung Doctoral Scholarship. It has allowed me to travel across Europe and consult manuscripts which has greatly enhanced my current research and enabled me to participate in conferences to discuss my research project and ideas with other academics.”
The Tung Foundation, founded by the late CY Tung, father of Liverpool graduates, Dr CH Tung (BEng Hons Marine Engineering 1960, Hon LLD 1997) and Dr CC Tung (BEng Hons Mechanical Engineering 1964, Hon LLD 2009), supports social, cultural and educational causes. The Foundation provides scholarship opportunities to Hong Kong and Chinese students studying at the University of Liverpool.
Applicants to the Tung and Yu scholarships are required to submit a 500 word application statement, which outlines how they feel they will make a difference on returning to China after completion of your studies. Applicants should also include evidence of academic excellence and achievement by way of academic references, in addition to an academic CV in support of the application. Candidates must have already made an application to study at the University of Liverpool.
Applications should be sent via email, along with your nine digit student ID number, to: firstname.lastname@example.org before 30 April 2015. Applications received without a valid student ID number, or with missing documentation, will not be considered.
