Liverpool Guild of Students has been shortlisted in two categories in the NUS awards.

They have reached the final five in the Student Opportunities award category as a result of their commitment to student engagement through schemes such as Give it a Go and Leave Liverpool Tidy, as well as promoting numerous volunteering opportunities. This year they also celebrated their society members topping the 5,000 mark, and gave £20,000 to societies as part of the Spent It campaign.

The Guild’s Student Officer team is also in the running for the Officer Team award.  Over the last year, they have worked together on various projects including the Liverpool Day of Action, which encouraged more than 800 local students to register to vote in the General election. The team have also collaborated on important policies such as Call It Out, Don’t Let Yet and introducing preferred names at the University.

James Coe, Deputy President at the Guild, said: “Being shortlisted for the Student Opportunities Award and Officer Team Award is a huge privilege and a really exciting way to end a year of hard work.”

The winners will be announced at a special ceremony during the NUS Conference at Bolton Wanderers Football Stadium, on Wednesday 8 July 2015.
