Executive Director of the Australian Research Council (Humanities and Creative Arts), Professor Dennis Del Favero will be joined by Head of the School of the Arts, Professor Stephi Hemelryk-Donald, and alumnus Jim Eyre OBE (BA Hons Architecture 1980, Hon LLD 2009) at the next 2015 Science and Society event exploring art, technology and science.
The lecture will address the impact of creative technologies on the ways in which researchers and professional artists and designers work between the worlds of the engineer, the craftsman, the visionary and the pragmatist.
Bringing architecture and advance interactive visualisation onto the stage, the speakers will think about how to imagine new ways of connecting, shaping and being in society now.
The lecture will take place in the Leggate Theatre, Victoria Gallery & Museum, on Tuesday, 13 October at 5:30pm. Admission is free but places must be booked in advance by calling 0151 794 2650 or by visiting the website here: http://www.liv.ac.uk/events/science-and-society/lecture-series.php
Future lectures in the Science and Society series include: Professor John Collinge, University College London’s Head of the Department of Neurodegenerative Disease, who will examine how well prepared we are for emerging diseases; and Dr Trevor Wishart, University of Durham’s Composer-in-residence, who will discuss The Secret Resonance of Things.
