Policy Provocations: England’s devolution dividend

Policy Provocations logo

New city states or cities in a state? Devolution to English cities and city-regions is being sold as the way to tackle all manner of challenges, from narrowing the wealth gap between North and South, to achieving the efficiencies in public service delivery that austerity budgeting demands. But is it?

Can Liverpool city region’s political leaders secure the sort of ‘deal’ from Government that makes the game worth the candle? Can devolution deliver and how will we know if it does?

Director of ResPublica, Philip Bond, will be joined by the Director of Boston University’s Initiative on Cities, Professor Graham Wilson, and the Director of the Heseltine Institute, Professor Alan Harding, to discuss the issues in the latest of the Policy Provocations debate series.

Chaired by Dr Roger Philips from BBC Radio Merseyside, this event is FREE to attend and is taking place on Wednesday 21st October 2015 at 6pm in the Victoria Gallery & Museum.
