Vice-Chancellor Professor Janet Beer will deliver an inaugural lecture next week exploring her academic interests in American literature and the life of Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist Edith Wharton.

The lecture is in recognition of Professor Beer’s appointment to the University, and is open to students, staff and members of the public.

Professor Beer has an established record of research in late 19th and early 20th century American literature and culture and contemporary Canadian women’s writing. She has published widely in these fields and most recently completed a study of the writing of Edith Wharton.

The event, A Life in Letters, will take place at the Central Teaching Hub at 5.30pm on Monday, 26 October and will be followed by refreshments at 6.45pm.
