External examiner reports are now available for students to view in VITAL.
The University appoints external examiners for all taught study in order to make sure that its programmes are nationally and internationally comparable in standards and quality.
Each session, external examiners submit a report to comment on the programme of study that they have been assigned to. Students will be able to see the report relating to modules they are currently registered on and, when it is available, the response to the report in the Module Overview area of the My Courses section.
Most external examiner reports are submitted and approved in July and August for undergraduate students, and December and January for postgraduate taught students, so in future they should be available to view from September and February respectively. Some reports, however, have later deadlines so may not be available until later in the session.
Responses by the staff responsible for each module to the external examiner reports are added throughout the academic session, so students are advised to check back regularly if they would like to read these comments.
This is a new undertaking so only reports relating to the 2014-15 session onwards will be available.
Any students wishing to see reports from prior sessions should contact the appropriate module leader or programme director. From session 2016/17 onwards, students will be able to view reports relating to the modules that they are currently or were previously registered on, as long as the modules are still available in VITAL.
