More than 125 students attended an event to mark the departure of students as part of the University’s Study Abroad programme.
The event, which was held in Mountford Hall in the Liverpool Guild of Students, welcomed those who will be jetting off to study at one of the University’s 116 worldwide partner institutions next semester, as well as those who are travelling home having spent the last semester on exchange in Liverpool.
The celebration was marked by a speech from Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education, Professor Gavin Brown, who thanked students for helping to make Liverpool a truly global university and embarking on the unique experience of Study Abroad.
Those heading abroad in September include the first cohort of students who are taking part in the Year in China programme – a new opportunity which gives students the chance to study for a year at our joint venture institution in Suzhou, Xi’an Jiaotong-Liverpool University (XJTLU).
The event also marked a goodbye to the final cohort of Ciencias sem Fronteiras (previously Science without Borders) students – a government funded scholarship programme which enabled Brazilian students to study outside of their home nation. Over the life of the programme more than 300 students chose to make Liverpool their home for a year.
