The University of Liverpool is taking part in the UK’s biggest business event, the International Festival for Business (IFB), which arrives in the city today.

Promising an ambitious programme of events, IFB 2016 is a key government supported initiative to rebalance the economy and achieve UK export and investment targets. Up to 30,000 international delegates will attend the three-week long festival, which is expected to generate £265m in economic value.

The festival runs from 13 June to 1 July at the Exhibition Centre on the Albert Dock and has three thematic weeks focusing on Manufacturing, Energy and Environment and Creative Digital.

Showcasing research

The University is involved in a number of different events and tours that will showcase our research and help develop new relationships on an international platform.

Highlights include the Sensor City conference, which will bring together representatives from a variety of industries for a day of informative presentations, knowledge sharing and networking around sensor technologies.

The Physics Innovate conference will bring together academics from the University’s Physics Department, large corporations, public organisations and SMEs, to show how physics impacts on the energy, security, environment and healthcare sectors.

Campus tours

In addition to the events running at the Exhibition Centre, the University is opening up its doors for delegates to take part in tours of the Materials Innovation Factory and historic campus.

The Materials Innovation Tour will outline how the new facility, set to open 2017, will offer world-leading research expertise in materials chemistry and a dynamic support infrastructure to revolutionise interdisciplinary research and development.

The ‘Advancement of Learning’ campus tour will showcase how the University’s mission remains as relevant today as it was over hundred years ago, with the chance to explore the original ‘red-brick’ university building and award-winning research facilities.
