International students’ Christmas party

International student Christmas party 2016

The University held a party for international students and members of their family who are now based in the UK.

The party gave international students and their families the chance to socialise with one another, while experiencing British Christmas traditions, such as carol singing and Christmas-card making. The children also got a visit from Father Christmas.

Over 40 people attended this year’s event, which was held by the International Advice and Guidance team.

Joanne Bainbridge Thompson, the International Advice and Guidance Team Leader, said: “We value the experience not just of the student but their family members’ experiences too. An international family that is happy and comfortable in the culture and community is a great support to the student.”

New international support meetings

The International Advice and Guidance team will be holding regular events to support international students and their families throughout the academic year. The first event is taking place in January 2017.

If you’d like to find out more about future events, please contact the team via Twitter or email.
