Exams and deadlines: tools and support

Exams and deadlines studying

Exams and looming deadlines can be stressful. That’s why Liverpool Guild of Students and the University have been considering ways to ease pressure at a difficult time in the academic calendar.

Pick up a free healthy snack

Guild President Sean Turner said: “We know just how hectic this time of year can be with all those exams and deadlines so we want to help you to keep your cool.

“Starting on Monday, 11 January we will be visiting the libraries every lunchtime to give out healthy snacks and loads of encouragement to keep your spirits up.”

Library on Tour

During the exam period we’ll be running the #LibraryonTour initiative, opening up temporary, additional learning spaces. The following rooms will be open as part of this initiative:

  • Elizabeth Gidney 1
  • Elizabeth Gidney 2
  • Mandela Room
  • The Library
  • PC Room

These study spaces will be staffed and we will loan laptops for use in these rooms.

Make use of these three handy tools

There are a number of services available to make access to services easier during peak periods.

PC Finder tool

The PC Finder tool service helps students to see where free PC seats are available. There are a number of PC centres outside the two main libraries, so this tool uses GPS location service on the mobile or tablet to locate where you are before displaying the PC availability in centres close to you.

Speed stations

Located in the Rendall building, the speed stations are designed for quick tasks like printing, checking emails or websites – anything that will tie up a PC for less than 30-minutes.

Print anywhere

The print anywhere service enables students to easily print from their own computer, tablet or mobile device. As well as providing more flexible access to printing, the service helps to reduce demand on campus computers that might otherwise have been tied up to complete simple printing jobs.
