Applications are now open for The Holt Education Trust travel bursary – a £1,000 award you can use to fund an activity related to your subject this summer.
Students who have received The Holt Education Trust travel bursary in the past have used the funding to attend conferences, take part in summer schools and undertake work experience abroad.
For example, Emily Cross a former chemistry student at the University, was awarded the travel bursary and used the money to fund an internship at the Australian Institute for Biotechnology and Nanotechnology at the University of Queensland.
During her internship, Emily worked on developing nano-sensors for detection of particular chemicals, such as those related to cancerous cells and those associated with chemical weapons.
Not only did Emily gain a deeper understanding of chemistry, she also got to explore Queensland. Emily enjoyed visiting the beaches of the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, as well as surfing and playing rugby.
If you’d like to have an experience like Emily and you are interested in applying, there are four travel bursaries available. Each bursary will be awarded by the Trustees of The Holt Education Trust in spring 2017.
To be eligible for The Holt Education Trust travel bursary, you need to be:
– An undergraduate in your second or third year of study

To be eligible, the activity you choose to fund must also take place this summer.
