Exams and assessments: Tools and support

Students in an exam room

To help ease the pressure you may be feeling during the upcoming exam and assessment period, the Liverpool Guild of Students and the University have developed a number of initiatives.

Pick up a free healthy snack

Guild President Sean Turner said: “We know just how hectic this time of year can be with all those exams and deadlines, so we want to help you to keep your cool.

“Starting on Monday, 15 May we will be visiting the libraries every lunchtime to give out healthy snacks and loads of encouragement to keep your spirits up. On the last day of assessments – Friday, 2 June – we’ll also be handing out free ice-creams.”

Library on Tour

From Monday, 15 May until Thursday, 1 June, the Library will be running the #LibraryonTour initiative, opening up temporary, additional study spaces. The following venues will be available to students from 9am to 9pm, seven days per week:

  • Guild of Students
  • Maddisons Café – Sherrington Building
  • South Campus Teaching Hub
  • Management School

These study spaces will be staffed and laptop loans will be available apart from the Management School space where there is access to a PC centre.

Make use of these three handy tools

These tools will help you access IT services during peak periods:

Service
PC Finder tool

PC Finder uses a GPS location service to help you find available PCs on campus. There are plenty of computers in Teaching Centres besides those in the Library, so you’ll be able to find a computer to use near to your location if the libraries are busy.

Speed stations

Located in the Rendall building, speed stations are designed for quick tasks like printing, checking emails or visiting websites.

Print anywhere

You can easily print from your own device using Print Anywhere. This means you can work from your own laptop in the library, for example, and still use the printers there.

Feeling stressed? Get support

Extra support is available, particularly if you feel you are suffering from more than a bout of exam nerves. The following are some useful contact details for University support services that are all free and confidential to access. Helpful information can also be found on their webpages.
