Your new Student Officers for 2017/18 officially started their roles last week and are currently preparing for the new term.
Your new Student Officers, who were elected in March 2017, are:
- President, Sean Turner
- Deputy President, Ananda Mohan
- Vice President, Oba Akinwale
- Vice President, Rory Hughes
You will find Sean, Ananda, Oba and Rory in their office space, which is near the Starbucks in the Guild and the Guild Shop.
Sean, Ananda and Oba were all re-elected for a second year after an all-student vote in March. Rory is newly elected and the team is currently showing him the ropes while preparing for a successful Welcome Week.
From the outgoing team, Vice President Yasmin Gasimova, is returning to her second year studying Politics and Communication. However, Yasmin still plans to stay involved in Guild goings-on through her involvement in Young Greens and Feminist Societies.
Speaking about the upcoming year, Guild President Sean Turner said: “ Over the next year, we plan to tackle student bus fare costs, start a society accreditation scheme, make sure you know your housing rights and improve the Academic Advisor system – so it’s shaping up to be a busy one!”
What does a student officer do?
Student Officers lead the Liverpool Guild of Students and represent you to ensure your experience of the University is the best it possibly can be. They also help improve your education and lobby local government on issues that matter to you.
