Travel update: Merseyrail and Northern rail strike

Industrial action on both the Merseyrail network and Northern services is scheduled to take place on the 1st, 3rd and 4th of September 2017. No trains will run before 7am (8am on 3rd) and no trains will run after 7pm.

Please check and plan your travel accordingly and account for possible delays or cancellations in services.

Rail strikes for Merseyrail services will take place on Friday, 1 September, Sunday, 3 September and Monday, 4 September.

Rail strikes for Northern services will take place on Friday 1st September and Monday 4th September.

Students are advised to use other means of public transport wherever possible to reduce congestion on key routes such as the Mersey Tunnels and roads in and out of the City Centre. Bus may be a good alternative on strike day, with an extensive network across the Liverpool City Region. For those considering Cycling, University students and staff receive citybike discount.
