Publish your work in a new life sciences journal

Insider Imprint

A team of PhD students from the Faculty of Health and Life Sciences are launching a new life sciences journal. Insider Imprint is currently asking students to submit their writing and artwork for the publication.

One of the editors, Natasha, explains more about how you can get involved with Insider Imprint:

What is Insider Imprint?

“Insider Imprint is an open access, peer reviewed journal featuring cutting-edge research and debate in the life sciences, as well as showcasing student achievements to a wider audience.

“Insider Imprint will be an engaging read for students, staff and the wider public; and a platform for public engagement activities.”

Why was Insider Imprint set up?

“Undergraduate and masters students are involved in exciting research projects and develop skills in critical academic writing during their time here at the University, but they rarely get the opportunity to publish their work.

“Insider Imprint will support students to submit their writing, experience the peer review process, and have their work published both in print and online. Authors will gain confidence in academic writing and be able to demonstrate their success to peers, family and future employers.”

“The editorial team are a group of PhD students, led by Dr Fabia Allen. The journal also presents an opportunity for PhD students and staff to act as peer reviewers to support the journal. Please contact us if you are interested.”

Who can submit to Insider Imprint?

“We are open to submissions that focus on the life sciences, written by undergraduate and masters students, including (but not limited to):

* Research articles, such as honours/masters projects

* Literature reviews

* Commentaries, e.g. reflections on internships or work experience

* Book reviews, hot topics and debate articles

* Creative submissions and artwork on the life sciences

Can I find out more information?

“Please visit Insider Imprint for more information including guidelines for authors and information for supervisors.

“If you have an idea for an article but are not sure whether it is suitable for Insider Imprint, please email to discuss your query with us. The journal also presents an opportunity for PhD students and staff to act as peer reviewers for the journal. Please contact us if you are interested.”

How can students submit their writing?

“Students are asked to submit their writing, according to author guidelines, before Tuesday, October 31 2017.

“Insider Imprint will be hosting a drop-in writing clinic on Wednesday, 4 October. This is to encourage potential authors to discuss their writing with members of the editorial team. To register for this event please visit the Eventbrite webpage.”
