The series kicks off on Thursday, 2 November with ‘Designing a Public Engagement Project using Design Thinking’. This half-day workshop is for postgraduate researchers who would like to explore how they can design and embed public engagement into their current research projects. It is also for anyone who wishes to learn more about the Design Thinking process.

Future sessions will include:

The Design Thinking Studio sessions are open to all postgraduate researchers from any discipline. The sessions provide the opportunity to learn design thinking in a flexible manner over a series of short and frequently running workshops. Studio sessions are repeated regularly and if you are unable to make consecutive sessions, you can continue from where you left off in the process at a later date.

What is Design Thinking?

Design Thinking is a process of thinking and working that can be used to design innovative solutions. This human-centred approach is a creative and experiential learning process that all researchers can use to generate and shape new ideas and more meaningful impact, which results in public benefit. All researchers are designers and Design Thinking can be used to reimagine better solutions to:

* Public engagement

* Participatory research

* Interdisciplinary collaborations

* Crowd sourcing

* Co-creation with industry and other partners

* Developing curriculum and teaching

* Citizen science
