Three steps to help you plan your career

Careers and Employability University of Liverpool

The Careers and Employability Service have shared their top three tips that will help you to plan your career.

Remember to look out for the team on University Square every Thursday. You can ask staff about how they can help you and, if you’re a final year, you can also enter a competition to win an iPad.

1. Self-assess

What skills do you have? What parts of your degree have you most enjoyed? Do you have work experience? Knowing what you are good at and which environments you thrive in is the first step.

2. Knowledge is power

Start using online resources to research your options. Attend our career events and engage with employers. Knowing the reality of a role and its recruitment processes is vital to making the right decision.

3. It’s good to talk

Book an appointment with one of our friendly careers advisers. Careers guidance is tailored to your individual situation and can help identify your strengths, build a plan and provide some actions for you to be getting on with.

Talk to the Careers and Employability team

If you’re not sure what you want to do after graduation, or you need advice to get to where you want to be, go and see the Careers and Employability team. You can attend a drop-in session, no appointment necessary, between Monday and Friday. Or you can book an appointment online to speak to an adviser.

The Careers team will also be out and about on campus over the coming weeks.
