All of our postgraduate researchers are invited to attend our free programme of training and workshops which the Liverpool Doctoral College have organised as part of this October’s Postgraduate Researcher Week.
Taking place between Monday, 8 and Friday, 12 October 2018, Postgraduate Researcher Week is the ideal opportunity for postgraduate researchers to meet up with other research students from across campus and share their experiences, while learning more about the training and development opportunities available to them as a postgraduate student at the University.
A range of sessions will be running throughout the week, including advice and guidance, training sessions, networking events and social activities.
- Life after your PhD – Exploring different career options
- Your Thesis: why you should start your writing now!
- Planning your Final Year
- Thesis writing afternoon
- Viva Survivor
As part of the programme, our new Research Café will launch on Tuesday, 8 October. The Café will provide social events where PhD students, early career researchers and established academics can network, share ideas, and build understanding over a cup of coffee or glass of wine. Based around the concept of Café Scientifique, Research Cafés work to foster connections between disciplines and create new and more diverse research networks.
A number of the sessions are going to be peer-led, including: Peer Support for Postgraduate Researchers, Public Engagement: Communicating your research to a wider audience, and Exploring options to start your writing.
Postgraduate Researcher Week is for all postgraduate research students, not just first years, and has a variety of sessions for postgraduate researchers at whatever stage of their PhD.
Places are limited and a number of sessions are close to full so booking is essential. To register for sessions, please visit the Liverpool Doctoral College website.
